Joe’s Basecamp: New Adventure Training Gym

New Adventure Training Gym Opens In Brookvale, Sydney (NSW).

One of the Northern Beaches’ most sought after personal trainers opens a first-of-its-kind functional fitness gym to prepare you for life’s adventures.

Saturday 7 March will see the grand opening of Joe’s Basecamp, a unique functional training gym based in Brookvale, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Joe’s Basecamp is the first gym of its kind, providing strength training, functional movement training, cardio vascular training, CrossFit, trail running, indoor rock-climbing and altitude training to help clients “train for life’s adventures” – think mountain climbing, desert marathons and long distance treks.
Built to “inspire ordinary people to do extraordinary things”, Joe’s Basecamp was founded by local resident Joe Bonington, son of British mountaineering legend, Sir Chris Bonington, and one of the most sought after personal trainers on the Northern Beaches.

Originally established as Joe’s Garage in Balgowlah, Joe has trained clients to go on to trek to the North Pole, compete in ultra-marathons, climb to the summit of Everest, walk the Kokoda trail, climb Kilimanjaro and trek to Machu Pichu, among many other things.

Offering a custom-built adventure training facility including an indoor rock-climbing wall and altitude training room, Joe’s Basecamp moved into its new 700 square metre Brookvale space in January 2015 and now invites Northern Beaches locals to celebrate the Grand Opening with an array of free classes, a health expo and a speech and ribbon cutting by one of Australia’s most prolific mountain climbers, Andrew Lock, who has scaled all of the world’s 8,000m peaks and will be sharing his many tales of adventure.

“One of the most special things about Joe’s Basecamp is the community of like-minded people it brings together,” says Joe. “It doesn’t matter whether you’re a high-octane adventure junkie or simply someone looking for a new fitness experience, once you’re part of the Joe’s family, you’ll never look at gym training the same way again.”

“Our goal is to inspire people to get OUT of the gym and experience life to the fullest and who better to do that than Andrew Lock,” Joe continues. “We’re absolutely thrilled to open our doors to the greater Northern Beaches community on March 7th, and give them a chance to train with us and be inspired by Andrew to live a life less ordinary,” he says.

Absolutely all fitness levels are welcome and Joe encourages people to attend, whether they’re participating in the fitness classes or not.
